Agree 100% with that Wisel. I posted a while ago that fans have been conned into accepting the mindset that "Football Is A Business" (say it often enough & folk will accept it as being the truth). Football Is A Sport. And it belongs to the people. |

Lestsby, you address your disdain for the "yield' secured by the owners. Can you please show me the yield as I have read and re-read the financial reports. In all the time they have been here the PLC has not declared a dividend so there has not been a yield at all. Further they have funded and loaned the club significant sums. You make a statement attacking the owners for their greed, by implication greed. You are plain wrong, apologise for that. |

just as the people paid for it for many decades before the premiership came along ... the idea that a game featuring 22 men kicking a ball needs billions of pounds to stage is another of the great myths... |

To even attempt to compare American or Brazilian crowds to UK supporters (Blues fans in particular) is ludicrous - Totally different cultures for a start. Exactly, totally different cultures, therefore people differ around the world. You miss my point entrirely. As I said it was an extreme example to prove the point. Are you saying a Scot will react to a situation in the same way as a Brummie? Or that the honesty and by eckie thump of a Yorkshireman is the same as the the responses of a Brummie. Of course they are not. Maybe you can explain yourself rather than partially agreeing with me, but then showing disrespect for my thoughts by calling them ludicrous. Why not stick with fans of other UK clubs? I can, and oh btw did, read it again. Now I'll give you a prime example - Today I was talking to a colleague who is a Cardiff fan, nothing to moan about there wouldn't you think? - Truth is whilst he's chuffed to bits with the league position he and a good few other Cardiff fans he knows are unhappy with their stadium and the time it's taking to get a new one, Sam Hamman and his tight rein on finances (they want to know what he's done with the money from the sale of Jerome) and he was seriously worried about their ability to maintain their form with a squad full of free transfers. Sounds to me like you have just proved my point again with your own words. The Welsh club fan told you what was really good about his club and then what needs improvement. That is good copnstructive criticism, not the outright condemnation, hate, disrespect and deprecation of everything Blue that we get oh so often on here. See Wisel it's not just Blues fans - You have to face up to the fact that we all know supporters of other clubs and all other clubs have fans who moan. But if you read my posting again, you will see it is me who made the point that most people on here know other fans from other areas, why do you feel the need to tell me again? Try listening to 606 you'll hear Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U fans phone in with complaints. Why would you think/assume that I never listen to 606? You seem to lean towards agreeing with me, but also seem to be knee jerk reacting to anything that I write rather tahn reading and digesting before responding |

I don't think letsby needs to apologise for having an opinion. If you read it properley I think you'll find that he is asking the board to become honorary brummies instead of just busisness men. I didn't read it as an implication that the term yield referred to any financial or stock exchange terminology. You chose to - probably through mischief rather than debate. Of course, to someone who had read and re-read the financial dealings of the plc, you can correct me if I'm wrong: Messrs Golds and Sullivan and/or their designated companies, do receive annual payments that approach if not exceed those enjoyed by many a Premiership football player. This may not be a dividend ( your term aussie), but I ain't seen them kick a ball yet. **thumbup Good points debated in this thread, although we could do without the dead hand of scoutmaster wisel and his perrenial, pretentious, corrections. |

Wisel as you well know "good news is no news" - This board would be a very sterile place indeed if only posts lauding the positive aspects of the club were posted. I praise the club where it's due but that doesn't mean I don't reserve the right to criticise as I see fit. The fact that I don't post huge amounts if praise on here is because I see no point in preaching to the converted and I'd sooner debate the problems with fellow Bluenoses than with fans from other clubs. |

How about the impact on new, young or impressionable board members. Shouldn't we portray an even balance of our views on the club rather than create a false impression that everything is negative, and potentially turning people away from the club? Or the impact on players who do take fans views seriously and all they see is a tirade of negatives against them, who is going to explain valleyblues rationale to him before he decides to get on his bike to somewhere he is appreciated? |

Imo the players these days dont give two hoots what the fans think, they think about the oversize pay check yes, but fans, they dont care, How many`players these days celebrate a goal and sickeningly kiss the badge on the shirt as if to say i love this club etc, i used to think players cared about their clubs, Take the like of Pennant for example, Bruce gave him the chance to redeem his career and reputation, stands by him through his problems, he gives it large saying i want to stay and help Blues back up for what theyve done for me, then low and behold an offer comes in and hes driving up the m6 as fast as he could, Now whether the board sold because of the price i didnt hear him saying NO i want to stop here at least for one more year to pay back the club that dragged me out of the gutter, no he was gone like a rat from a sinking ship, The days of Steve Bull type loyalty has gone, its now the big fat pay cheque that counts, and as usual the players are only too willing to give it large when they are getting lauded for good performances but then go on the defensive when anything negative is said about them. I have a mate who went to Norway last year and apart from a couple of exceptions he said the Blues players were an arrogant bunch who hadnt got time for the fans who had travelled. Player loyalty, sorry not any more, they are no more than mercenaries playing for the highest bidder, after all you can abuse and critiscise them all day but would you care if you were picking up the big fat 20,000 pay cheque at the end of the week. Give me 20,000 a week and you can abuse me 24/7 |
